Where Afritis began
Afritis — African Innovative Technological IT Solutions — started as an idea in college in 2022. Not a company yet; a conviction. Its founder, Samwel Peter Mmari, kept meeting the same gap: African organisations were expected to run on technology built somewhere else, for someone else, in a language and context that were not their own.
The response was to build. Quietly, project by project — a personal-finance tool here, an institutional sports platform there, data pipelines and AI prototypes in between. Each one was a test of the same belief: that technology must work outside the presentation room — on real phones, real networks, and in the languages people actually speak.
In 2024, Afritis was registered as a business name with BRELA, marking the shift from personal projects to a named venture. Today it operates as a founder-led technology studio, preparing steadily toward a full company launch — building capability and a track record first, rather than making claims it has not earned.
That is the honest position: Afritis is early, but it is not empty. The name is new; the engineering behind it is already running in production.
